May I Have Your Attention Please?

In this day and age, with people constantly being bombarded by information and almost infinite amounts of content available at the click of a button, people’s attention span and ability to concentrate are decreasing. This is particularly true of younger generations who have grown up with smartphones, tablets and on demand television.

 

This is something that you should take into consideration for your own business, whether you are making a sale, giving a presentation, or marketing your company. In general, people like short, snappy information otherwise they are more likely to get bored and drift off, directing their attention elsewhere. So when you are trying to deliver a message it needs to be concise. Here are a few ideas of how to make different kinds of content which will attract and maintain people’s attention:

How do you Measure Success?

Many of you will have worked in corporate environments where Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are used to measure everything from finance to operational activities.  When you run a small business it’s just as important to measure performance, especially when it comes to your marketing.  I often speak to business owners that tell me they have spent a lot of time or money on a specific marketing activity and they don’t know how many clients they got as a result of this. 

 

Unless you monitor every marketing activity you just don’t know what is working well and what isn’t.  You could be wasting a lot of valuable time and money!
